Our hygiene team is passionate about what they do and always happy to give your smile that extra deep-cleaning it deserves.
A healthy mouth is influential to your general health and wellness. Research has shown a potential link between periodontal diseases and other inflammatory conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Our hygienists will clean your teeth, through a process known as "scaling." This process will help to remove minor stains and plaque build up.
During your check-up, the hygienist can also check for signs of serious oral health problems, including cancer. During an oral visual exam, the hygienist will thoroughly check your teeth and gums, including under the gum line and the most common cancer zones – the floor of your mouth, under the tongue and the soft palette.
If a concern is noticed, the hygienists may want to perform a biopsy. A biopsy is when the dentist will remove a small piece of tissue from the problem area, and examine it under a microscope to discover the presence, cause, or extent of a disease.
Ensuring that you maintain regular visits with one of our hygienists is your first and best line of defence against serious oral health problems, because early detection means we can start treatment as soon as possible.
